Our Future

The future of Gorebridge is a bright one and the Gorebridge Community Development Trust is leading the way. It is our aim to make a real difference to the community and environment in Gorebridge and through our initiatives and projects our collective future will be every bit as illustrious as our past.

The opening of the Scottish Borders railway line, 'The Waverly Line' will call at Gorebridge, reopening a station that closed in 1969.  This will provide potential visitors with easier access to visit the town and enjoy the fantastic surrounding walks in the District’s countryside. This will also give opportunity for commuters to travel to the centre of Edinburgh with relative ease over existing modes of transport.

Several new housing projects are currently under construction and more are in the pipeline. It is anticipated that the population of Gorebridge will double over the next ten years bringing new economic growth to Gorebridge.

The Gorebridge Community Hub is the flagship project of the Development Trust and the vision of our chair Archie Pacey MBE who has worked tirelessly to see the project on the verge of fruition. The Hub will replace the old Brown Building Community Centre on Hunterfield road, the main arterial route through Gorebridge.

The Hub will be built adjacent to the existing library, leisure centre and parish church defining the heart of Gorebridge and linking key local services on one campus. The Community Hub will be operated by the Development Trust providing a new base to continue its services in supporting the community.
