The Gorebridge Community Development Trust supports the economic and social regeneration of the former coal mining town of Gorebridge and surrounding areas in Midlothian. We work for the bright future of Gorebridge, improved local services and a strong community.
Our projects & those we support.
Gorebridge Community Development Trust is in the process of developing a multi-purpose community hub. The hub will replace the old Brown Building providing a much needed fit for purpose community facility.
Working with our partners at the Gorebridge and District Environmental Group we undertook a major landscaping project at the Newbyres Castle site. We have created a pedestrian walkway through the site and commissioned a sign explaining the history of the Newbyres Castle.
GCDT has worked in partnership with Gorebridge and District Environmental Group to develop a 7.5 mile circular walk around Gorebridge. This path network links in with connections to Mayfield, the South Esk Way and Dalkeith. Download the PDF of the walk below or collect a leaflet from the Trust’s office.
This website was developed to be a valuable resource to the community, providing up to date information on the local area, events as well as details on how to get involved in local community groups and projects.
What is Gorebridge CARS?
A Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme (CARS) is a jointly funded grant programme that provides assistance for regenerating towns and villages and enhancing the appearance of conservation areas through the repair of historic buildings and spaces
