The surgery is open every weekday from 8.30am-6.00pm. The doctors hold surgeries by appointment as follows:-

The surgery is also closed every other Wednesday from 12.30-2.30 and is also closed for six dates in the year from 12.30 – 6.00 for staff training. The dates of all these training sessions are displayed in the surgery. If you require Emergency treatment on theses day please ring the Out of Hours Service on 01845 242424.

How to Register with the Practice

When you come into the practice to register please bring your medical card to the surgery if possible. All newly registered patients will be asked to complete a simple questionnaire and invited to attend for a ‘new patient’ check-up/assessment. It is preferable if you register with the practice as soon as you move to the area rather than wait until you are ill. This means that we can try and can get your medical records before you actually attend the surgery.

Since the introduction of the new contract with GP’s in April 2004 you are no longer required to register with a specific GP in the practice, however, you are still able to choose whichever doctor you wish to attend within the partnership.

Telephone Advice

There is always a Doctor available that you can speak to during the day if you need advice, the best time to obtain this is after 12 noon. You may be asked to phone back if the Doctor you want to speak to is busy, or you can just speak to the Doctor on duty. It is helpful to tell the receptionist what it is about so that the relevant records can be made available to the doctor.

Emergency Appointments

We will always see urgent cases the same day. Each doctor has a few appointments every day which are reserved for this purpose. If you need one of these appointments please telephone between 8.30am and 9.30am and ask the receptionist to book you in to the next available time. Please do not misuse these appointments they are for problems that a patient feels is an emergency only.

Home Visits

Please try to come to the surgery if you can. Home visits take the doctors a great deal more time than surgery consultations and sometimes full examinations and tests cannot be done in the home. If someone is too ill to get to the surgery please phone before 10.30am.

Contacting the Doctor when the Surgery is closed (out of hours)

If you feel you need to see a Doctor when the surgery is closed (before 8am, after 6pm or at weekends) please telephone the surgery. If it is closed a recorded message will give the phone number of the out of hours services. Or alternatively you can ring the Out of Hours Service directly on 08454 24 24 24.
