The Brown Building

The Brown Building is a former Victorian primary school home to several community groups. The building serves as a venue for public and private meetings, the GO youth project and various recreational classes.

Gorebridge Community Development Trust is in the process of developing a multi-purpose community hub. The hub will replace the old Brown Building providing a much needed fit for purpose community facility.

Newbyres Community Garden

Working with our partners at the Gorebridge and District Environmental Group we undertook a major landscaping project at the Newbyres Castle site. We have created a pedestrian walkway through the site and commissioned a sign explaining the history of the Newbyres Castle.

Gorebridge Locality Plan

Following extensive community consultation The Gorebridge Locality Plan was published in April 2010. The plan includes some 28 actions that local people wanted implemented to improve the quality of life for people in Gorebridge.

Gorebridge Circular Walk

GCDT has worked in partnership with Gorebridge and District Environmental Group to develop a 7.5 mile circular walk around Gorebridge. This path network links in with connections to Mayfield, the South Esk Way and Dalkeith. Download the PDF of the walk below or collect a leaflet from the Trust’s offices or The Brown Building.
