The Scottish Mining Museum which since its establishment in 1984, has provided a great day out for all the family. The Scottish Mining Museum is a nationally registered independent museum which was founded to preserve and present Scotland’s mining heritage.
The museum is based at one of the finest surviving examples of a Victorian colliery in Europe, the Lady Victoria Colliery at Newtongrange, just nine miles from Edinburgh on the A7.

Gore Glen is set in the heart of Midlothian’s countryside on the banks of the Gore Water and River South Esk, below the Town of Gorebridge. You may enjoy panoramic views towards the Pentland Hills, take a stroll around 2 miles of wooded path network or enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the former ‘Gunpowder Glen’.
Crichton Castle
Crichton Castle stands tucked away out of sight, on a terrace overlooking the River Tyne in Midlothian. It was a noble residence for some 200 years, from the late 14th century through to the close of the 16th century. It was seldom the stage for significant events. However, its connections with two influential families – the Crichtons and the Hepburn Earls of Bothwell – associate the place with some of the most colourful chapters in Scottish history.

Rosslyn Chapel

Rosslyn Chapel is a Category A listed building and Scheduled Ancient Monument, located in the village of Roslin, approximately 7 miles south of Edinburgh. Built between 1446 and 1484, it has been described as an “Architectural Wonder” and a “Library in Stone”.
Arniston House

Arniston House is privately owned by descendants of the Dundas family who purchased the land in 1571. The family still own and live in the house. The present owners, the Dundas-Bekker family have long been involved in the long programme of restoration work. The family consider meeting of the visitor’s one of the most rewarding aspects of their ownership of Arniston. The present owners of Arniston will take you on an intriguing guided tour lasting around 90 minutes putting the house into context with a background of family history.
