Work Starts on Gorebridge Railway Line

I hear the Train a Coming its rolling round the bend (Johnny Cash) ……

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            On Monday 30th January contractors from Network Rail began clearing trees and shrubs along the old railway line approach to Gorebridge. This work is in preparation for the new Waverley Line slated to be fully operational by 2014.

Local residents living adjacent to the track by the road bridge on Station Road have informed the site management of a badger set located beside the track. We at GCDT welcome the arrival of the train that will further aid the social and economic regeneration of Gorebridge. We would however encourage network rail to consult and inform local residents prior to undertaking sensitive work like cutting back trees. Consideration must also be given to the flora and fauna and the badger family.
